What We Do |
Why We Do It |
We are accomplishing our mission of helping kids with rare diseases and chronic illnesses to feel less alone by sending care packages, providing emotional support through social media and get-togethers (held virtually during COVID-19), and financially assisting these kids and their families by providing the money needed for meals, gas, groceries, and medical equipment. We are always looking for new ways to spread our message and help as many kids as possible!
|
At Fighting H.A.R.D., we are building a support system for kids and families who battle rare diseases and chronic illnesses. We know the struggle first-hand, and we want to create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for the rare disease community. Raising awareness in the community is absolutely crucial to our mission, and the fundraisers and events we host are all geared toward that goal of letting these kids know they are not alone! This truly is our passion here at Fighting H.A.R.D., and we couldn't do it without our community. Thank YOU for Fighting H.A.R.D. with us! |
Every penny that we raise goes directly back into this mission. Check out some of the descriptions below to see where your donation goes.
Care Packages:
Care Packages are a great way to spread smiles all across the country to kiddos battling a rare disease! And because we know how HARD it can be, we also send to siblings for a pick-me-up! These packages contain Fighting H.A.R.D. swag, some of the kiddo's favorite things, and things that can help to make treatments / hospital stays a little easier! We also send meals, gift cards, and groceries to help out during HARD times.

Fighting H.A.R.D. Get-Togethers:
When you have a rare disease, it can be hard to find others who understand what you are going through. With the money we raise, we can put together events like our Beach Day or a baseball game to bring these kiddos and their families together for a fun day where they can be around others who 'get it'. Check out our Annual and Upcoming Events Page to see all of the events held throughout the year.

Medical Supplies and Travel Expenses:
Having a rare disease often means that insurance will not cover necessary medical supplies and equipment. It also means that many families must travel to find a specialist for care. With the money we raise, we can contribute to the cost of these needs and help to make the HARD life a little easier! Gas cards, hotel and Ronald McDonald House stays, gift cards, meals, and toll money are just a few of the travel expenses that we help cover for families who are Fighting HARD. Some of the medical supplies and other expenses that we cover include formula not covered by insurance for kids with feeding tubes, ostomy supplies, masks, wheelchairs, specialty strollers, copays for medications, and so much more!

Support Groups:
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, we launched Fighting H.A.R.D. Kiddo and Rarent virtual support groups! Our rare kiddos can do an activity together and talk about life, and rarents can discuss important topics in the rare disease community with others who get it. It is a great way to remind children and families battling rare disease that they are not alone! We also offer kids and families support through outpatient Child Life Services when things are extra HARD!
